Analysis

Information Systems have been a fundamental aspect for the flow of business for Pump it Up of Roselle Park since it’s opening May of 2011.

To integrate the management of all internal and external information across an entire organization is imperative. Here at Pump it Up, we use “PIUSMS”

However, how can we increase our success by connecting all departments and preventing duplicate information?

PIU SMS

The Information System we will analyze is called, “PIU SMS,” Pump It Up Service Management System. A system that is to be considered the brain of the organization. It is used at every Pump It Up location throughout the nation.Tracks reservations and party specifics, lets you to connect with your customer database, takes payments and generates business reports.

Uses:
  • Maintaining the customer and employee Master Calendar
  • All payments are processed through the system
  • Controls the content that is posted on the website
  • Collects and stores all data including inventory, current capacity, etc.
  • Collects and stores past and new customer information

Collaboration:

iMessage - GoogleDrive - Gantt Chart - E-Mail - OneDrive

Our team uses a unique combination of collaboration as well as cooperation to accomplish the given task. Cooperation, not to be confused with collaboration is simply doing what one is told to do. Collaboration however, involves doing the work as well as receiving feedback to revise and eventually strengthen the quality of our work.

Everyone would answer each question and we would reflect upon them, then reread each response written, finally chose the best possible option. We were not cruel nor too critical of each other's efforts because we understand the characteristics of effective collaboration some including, open-mindedness, thinking from different perspectives, and following through on the small commitments given thus far. Therefore regarding providing and receiving feedback we score relatively high. As we also communicate frequently through phone, class and google document.

However this initial process in retrospect was clearly cooperation and is much less practical to accomplish the tasks at hand. We did not take full advantage of the tools we have at our disposal including the information system Google Docs for synchronous communication and maximum efficiency. Moving forward we have chosen to follow the lecture closely and read the text, then assess the specific question we feel we can provide the best possible solution for. This process includes cooperating with one another by agreeing to listen to the lecture and read. Also collaboration by trusting one another to deliver the desired results for each question, then making minor edits to each answer accordingly.

Database:

PIU SMS not only handles tasks, but stores all of customers' data such as name, phone number, E-mail address, etc. It also archives past events and past inquiries that customers input when they request information on events whether it is online, in person or over the phone.

Other Aspects of Social Media Presence:

Social media provides platforms that create social networks /relationships among people with similar interests. Some similar interests examples include friends to add, events near your location that people you know are going to and funny posts that everybody likes. Pump It Up of Roselle Park uses Facebook as their main social media platform with using it daily to inform their customers on what events are being held daily and also any promotions or any specials being offered.

The formal process includes these steps:

1. Define your goals. 2. Identify success metrics. 3. Identify target audience. 4. Define your value. 5. Make network connections. 6. Gather and analyze data.

Pump It Up used these steps to create and understand what they wanted their business Facebook & Instagram page to be. They use the Facebook &  Instagram page insights to get their metrics on user engagement, brand awareness and more. Their target audience are parents, specifically targeting moms. Every time they post on their social media they already have it set to advertise towards a specific group on the media. They post pictures and information showing their events going on. Notifying the mothers of what is happening at the place shows them that this children’s place is safe for kids because other families are enjoying it as well. There are screenshots below showing how Pump It Up uses the tool of Facebook Page Insights.
